Birthday Celebration Guidelines
On the child’s birthday or the day nearest their birthday, if it falls on the weekend, the class will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to share a birthday snack if a snack is provided by the parents. Parents are welcome to drop off the treats or snacks but will not visit the classroom during this time. The teacher will distribute the snacks at an appropriate time during the school day.
No cakes, balloons, juice or other beverages, presents, gift bags, or any other items should be brought. These items are a disruption to the classroom and will not be allowed.
The snack must be store bought and easily packaged so the teacher can easily distribute the items. There must be a readable list of ingredients on the packaging of the snack. Napkins will need to be provided.
Our birthday celebrations must be in compliance with Board Policy FFAF Legal/Local which states:
Allergen foods will be eliminated from classrooms and other learning environments used by children with food allergies at rick for anaphylaxis at all campuses.
Pre-packaged food items with readable ingredient lists will be required for projects, activities, and celebrations in elementary, intermediate, and junior high classrooms of students with food allergies at risk for anaphylaxis so potential allergens can be identified.
